Gusto Portugese wines introduced in India

Kolkata based Gusto Imports Private Limited has launched a selection of Portugese, premium quality wines in India to be marketed under the brand name Gusto. With the launch Gusto has started its operations as a fine wine importer and distributor by offering a bouquet of six different quality wines catering to wine lovers across varied socio economic groups.
The Gusto wine range includes quality red, white and rose wines that come under Lancers White, Lancers Rose, Twin Vines, Periquita, Lancers Brut and Moscatel de Setbul.
The brand has presently launched the range in Kolkata market where it is available in a major wine retail store in South Kolkata and in the specialty store of Spencer's Hyper at South City mall. Within next two months the brand will be available in Mumbai market followed by Delhi and Bangalore.

Nasik's Terroir India launches Mumbaai Dreamz

Nasik's Terroir India Pvt Ltd (TIPL) has launched a new range of wines, 'Mumbaai Dreamz' in collaboration with Aspri Spirits Pvt Ltd (ASPL).
The range will consist of three wines in the red, white and rosé varietals. TIPL has reduced its profit margins to make the wines affordable while maintaining the quality of the produce. The product will be launched in Mumbai and Pune market first and will be rolled out in the other markets in a phased manner.

Mercury winery becomes first Indian wine to enter Chinese market

Nasik's Mercury Winery is the first Indian wine producer to foray into China market. Plans are afoot to launch it in the US market by the end of November 2009. In the future there are plans to foray into Canada, the company said.
MWPL has plans to expand its presence in the domestic market too. It will launch its portfolio of wines in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu by end of November 2009.
Mercury Winery Pvt Ltd (MWPL), a leading wine producer of Nasik valley, Maharastra, has said that the company has entered into the Italian market as part of its expansion plan for sales and distributions of its wines.

Ignite Mudra to promote wine from dry Gujarat

Booze is banned in Gujarat, but creative brains from the state will soon launch a national campaign to promote wine.
Mudra group's newly-formed arm for entrepreneurs, Ignite Mudra, bagged the Nashik-based Vinsura account for its range of wine products. Vinsura Wine has a turnover Rs 35 crore and its promoters have set growth targets. The ad agency team will soon going the vineyards in Nashik to see wine-making.
Almost a decade old brand Vinsura, also known as Sankalp Winery, manufactures close to six-lakh litres of wine. It manufactures about 10 varieties of wine. Ignite Mudra's campaign for Vinsura will be wine etiquettes.

IGBP takes Indian wine to Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair

Indian Grape Processing Board (IGPB) along with ten Indian wine producers participated in the second edition of the 3-day Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair.
Sula, Indage, Grover, Four Seasons, Deccan Plateau, Vintage, Chateau d’Ori, Chateau d’Banyan, Renaissance and Empire Wines are the ten wineries that are taking part in the show. This is the second time that India has taken part as a country at a wine show. Four years ago, Indian Wine Academy had organized an Indian stand in Wine for Asia that included Sula and Indage as the exhibitors.

DISCUS initiates efforts to strengthen American whiskey market in India

With an aim to educate the Indian market about American Bourbon whiskey, Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) plans to conduct a series of promotional efforts across India in 2010.
The association, which has been analysing the Indian market, recently conducted a three-city tour in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai. The tour focused on delivering educational sessions on Bourbon Whiskey, conducted by celebrated mixologist Toby Cecchini.

Cobra Beer seeks 4.5mn pounds to develop India business

Cobra Beer founder Karan Bilimoria is on a drive to raise 4.5 mn pounds for his Indian business after partly selling the British arm in a pre-pack administration deal.
Bilimoria said it was "absolutely vital" to raise the money, adding it remained to be seen what size stake in the business new investors would be granted.
He said the Indian beer market had enormous potential and he was "very confident" of being able to raise the funds.
Cobra's Indian arm generated retail sales of about five mn pounds in the year to March but delivered losses of four mn pounds. Turnover is forecast to grow beyond 20 mn pounds within four years.
